Bwthyn yng Nghymru / A Cottage in Wales
Alaw & Geiriau / Melody & Words - Tradd/Trad
Wel dyma’r hen dŷ rwy’n ei garu
Hen dŷ cân a phennill yng Nghymru,
A’r gwellt iddo’n dô a’r drws heb ‘run clo
A’r mur ddim rhy falch i’w wyn-galchu
A digon o le wrth y pentan
I gynnwys y teulu yn gyfan,
A golau’r tân mawn yn hyfryd a gawn
I gadw’r tywyllwch tu allan.
A Dafydd a’i law ar y Delyn,
A Gwen gyda’i phennill yn dilyn,
A’r awen fwyn dlos yn canu’n y nos
I gadw’r bwganod o’r gegin.
A’r pistyll bach gloyw yn disgyn
Dan ganu wrth dalcen y bwthyn
A’r dŵr gloyw glân sy’n dweud am y gân
A genir o fewn yr hen fwthyn.
Well this is the old house that I love
An old house of song and verse in Wales,
With a thatched roof and a door with no lock
And the wall isn’t too glad to be whitewashed
And plenty of room round the fire
To contain all the family,
And the lovely light of the peat fire
Keeps the darkness outside.
And Dafydd with his hand on the harp,
And Gwen following with her verse,
And the sweet and fair muse sings in the night
To keep the ghosts from the kitchen
And the bright waterfall
Sings outside the cottage
And it’s clear and clean water tells of the song
That’s sung inside the old cottage.
